At sea/Port Stanley

The alarm woke me at 0500, and I stumbled along to the Sea Harrier Squadron briefing room shortly afterwards. The briefing was short and to the point, and I then retired to my cabin again to wake up, and to wait for breakfast to be served.

We were scheduled to come to anchor at 0700, but it was nearer 0800 by the time we finally dropped the pick. After breakfast I went out onto the Quarterdeck to have a look at the world outside. We have anchored for the day off Port Stanley, and it is intended to run boats in and out more or less all day for the benefit of those people willing to brave the elements for the chance of spending an hour or so on dry (relatively) land. The coastline looked very Scottish, and desolate (that word springs to mind every time I think about these islands), and it was extremely cold. The prospect of a five mile boat trip, taking some forty five minutes, in those conditions, is extremely unappealing, and I decided that I probably wouldn’t bother to venture off the ship today. Taking a few pictures from the Quarterdeck will be about my lot.
